Meet the Team: Alma Garza

Alma Garza, Manager

How did you end up working with Red Granite and ORBA? What path brought you here?

Alma Garza - Team Awesome | Red Granite - outsourced AccountingMy past experience has been primarily in the financial institutions industry, which is a highly regulated and conservative area of business. I’d been working in accounting for banks for about 25 years and decided I needed a new challenge with more variety. A search on the internet brought me to Red Granite and immediately I was captivated, stalked the internet to find Chris Arndt’s email address and contacted him for a chance to be part of Team Awesome and the rest is history.

What gets you excited about working with Red Granite?

I really enjoy getting to know my co-workers, as they are all truly a pleasure to work with and they all care about their work and clients.

Where did you grow up?

I lived in the Pilsen neighborhood until I was eight then moved to Oak Lawn, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I’ve been there ever since.

First thing you’d like to cross off your bucket list is:

Taking a long trip to the Amalfi coast in Italy.

Three words to describe you are:

Honest, loyal, strong.

Favorite Quote/Personal Motto?

“Joy is the ultimate act of defiance.” ~ Bono

Cubs or Sox? Or Hawks?

Cubs.

If you had a superpower it would be:

Clairvoyance, but my intuition is pretty spot-on already.

Best accounting joke?

What do you call an accountant who always works through lunch, takes two days vacation every two years, is in the office every weekend and leaves every night after 10 pm?

Lazy.
